Connecticut Yankee Ownership

History

In 1962, ten investor-owned companies established the Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Company, and agreed to share the cost and the power from a proposed nuclear plant to be built in Connecticut. Connecticut Yankee (CY) was the second nuclear power plant built in New England and the sixth in the nation. The Haddam Neck site was selected in 1963,construction began in 1964, and CY generated power for the first time on August 7, 1967. The plant began commercial operation on January 1, 1968, just six years from its original concept.
